This ongoing series, which started in 2017, looks at the effect that humans have on the animals living in and around the Pacific Ocean and examines why an increased number of animal corpses are washing up onto popular California beaches. According to a Huffington Post article published in May 2017, representatives from the Santa Barbara Wildlife Care Network believe the cause may be natural neurotoxins that are ingested in animals and result in death. Although it is caused naturally, rising sea temperatures may have been the cause of an increased amount of neurotoxins present in algae resulting in many more animal deaths. These images force us to look at what impact human life has on issues such as global warming that are impacting not only us but the natural environments that we ultimately rely on.
